Family Doctor? [12 Oct 2006|10:56pm]

[ mood | sick ]

Need a recommendation for a female family doctor, preferably with experience in environmental sensitivities and er, female problems.

Anywhere on the Danforth would be awesomest, and obviously, someone accepting new patients right now would be rather necessary.

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find some dread falls, synthetic dreads, or something of the sort. The kind you could tie into your hair.

<lj-cut text="Lotsa other things I'm searching for.">

And boots, like these, for guys size 10. Big boots. Or anything similar.

And I was wondering if any of you seen something like this around?

I'm also wondering if anyone knows of any plus-sized stores with cool but not so expensive clothing.  Something alternative.

I'm looking for a skirt like this too. Preferably black.

Sorry for such a long list, lol. I'm only here till Tuesday and I wanna buy a few things I can't find at home. Thanks ahead of time.

Hey everyone,

i don't know if this is the right place to post this but i'll give it a shot i guess and if anyone knows of another community to post in that'd be great. I have a 1 year old, male, German Sheppard/Lab cross that i need to find a good home for because i am pregnant and will be leaving the province and i won't be able to care for him. He is a great companion, with a great personality and has wonderful traits. He is not neutered, has his shots and is registered and all of that good stuff. He's good with children and families as well with other dogs, a little excitable but he is still a puppy in some sense. He is all black with white paws, chest and the tip of his tail is also white. He's a beautiful dog and has an uncanny
resemblance to a German Sheppard and sometimes look like he has a bit of wolf in him. He is truly a wonderful animal and we will miss him very much. Here's a picture if it helps for any reason:

sorry if it's a bit big.

thanks for you time.

books featuring the danforth [06 Feb 2006|06:57pm]

Does anyone know of any books that take place on or around the Danforth area? Or even just have something in their content relating to the area.
I've been searching everywhere (internet, libraries, bookstores) for the past few weeks for information on this and all I've come up with so far is:

In the Skin of a Lion - Michael Ondaatje
Noman's Land - Gwendolyn MacEwan
Charisma - Margaret Christakos

Also any info on Danforth area authors would be appreciated.

Looking for a cat?

The Toronto Humane Society needs your help.

They currently have 500 cats needing homes, from a variety of places. They're so desperate they're going to waive the usual adoption fee of $25. (And even then, that's still a great deal.)

So, if you're already looking for one, stop on down and give a cute kitty a home. Spread the word! More info @ http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/07/29/humane-cats-050729.html

Toronto: KensingtonMarket, Capture the Flag !!! [22 Jul 2005|05:44pm]

[ mood | excited ]

On Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 Newmindspace.com presents:

Capture the Flag ! Toronto, Kensington Market

Join us for a game of Capture the Flag, the urban game with teams, sides and flags! Run around the streets of Toronto's Kensington Market, land of Al Waxman and bicycles. Outwit opponents, hiding behind fruit stand corners before you find their flag, outmaneuver their flag keepers and dash home for a point in the pulse-quickening game of metro-capture. Defend your territory with all its vintage goodness by tagging trespassers and sending them back to their side. The games in New York have been wonderful; come capture the flag in Toronto for a night of summer joy. The streets are your playground, reclaim them!
The totally hip game of Capture the Flag with a run-like-mad urban flair. The city is your playground! Redefine public space and reclaim the streets for a summer of silly games!

Capture the Flag (Kensington Edition)
College & Augusta (SW corner) // Spadina streetcar to College or the College Streetcar to Augusta.
Bring your cellphones. This game is technology enabled :)
9:30 PM SHARP!

Game play will be approximately 90 minutes, leaving plenty of time for your Tuesday night weeklies
Tell your friends!

For more info and rules, check out http://www.newmindspace.com << new! Forward to appropriate everythings!

i am starting a "poetry in the park" and i need volunteers to read and to promote the event. it will take place on weekends, usally, at withrow park near pape and danforth. the initial success of this depends on people getting the word out. so far a few people say they will be glad to come to the first one to support this idea.

get in touch if you're interested.

Huge Toronto Yard Sale --- with a cause!!! [04 Jun 2005|03:21pm]

This Sunday, June 5th, something big is happening in East York, Toronto... A gigantic blowout yard sale collected from many, many sources and all put towards one cause: to raise money for the development of schools in poverty-stricken areas around the world!
The event will be held all day and will be accomodated by music, food, refreshments and an overall great atmosphere.
The sale includes hardware and electronics, kitchen ware and home accessories, a library worth of great books and MUCH MUCH more.
it's a beautiful day this Sunday so why not spend it by coming down and supporting a good cause. There's going to be enough cool stuff for everyone in Toronto!

297 Springdale Blvd.
(North of the Danforth, West of Woodbine)
-----> [Between Glebemount & Woodmount and Queensdale & Milverton]

It's a 5/10 minute walk from Woodbine Stn., just up about 5 blocks (on the left side) and then the 2nd block down!

It's that time of year again! [04 May 2005|04:11pm]

[ mood | shoppy ]

Garage sale season is upon us! Yay! :)

On that note, this Saturday morning (May 7th) is the Milverton Boulevard street sale -- most participants, apparently, are between Glebemount and Woodington. Milverton is between Coxwell and Woodbine, fourth street north of Danforth (parallel to it).

One location in that area will be selling things for the benefit of La Leche League Canada and the Danforth morning LLL group -- if you know anyone expecting a baby or who has little kids, this is a very good sale.

Just don't bring a car if you can help it, it'll be busy! :)

Edited to be a wee bit more specific on the date. Oops. (x-posted)

Good News!!! [12 Apr 2005|06:06pm]

It looks like there's a Lick's going in to the former Bakers Dozen donuts at the corner of Pape and Danforth! This makes me happy, as I have to go to Yonge and Eg. when I need a veggie burger with Guk! fix.

the best place for pizza is at the corner of coxwell and danforth. its called 2 4 1 chicken and wings. i think. its 2.50 a slice and a pop (might be more now?) and the slices are big so they cut it into three slices so its like three slices youd get in a pizza ordered from pizza pizza and its the best pizza i tasted across the whole country. im in vancouver now and i crave it every day.
